We are studying ecosystems now! Ponds are a great place to start! Our school has a pond in the courtyard with lots of different types of insects and birds who visit the pond each day. If you could be a pond visitor, what kind if creature would you be and why? (Photo courtesy of freefoto.com.)

I think I'd be a frog. They seem to lead a pretty leisurely existence and ponds have lots of flies.
I'd need to keep an eye on predators though.

Quincy said that he would like to be a frog because he could jump and hop.
Alondra would like to be a duck because you can swim under the water and dive down to see the other animals.
Leo wants to be a duck because they can live on land and in the water. They lay their eggs on land.
Matthew said he would like to be a misquito at the pond so frogs could eat him.
Alexandra thought it would be great to be a duck so she could swim around all day.
Takara thought it would be fun to be a whirly gig bug and swim in circles all day and provide food for the other animals.

Nicole said she would be a lizard so I could change colors and swim in there.
Johnathan wants to be a duck so he can swim around, around all day and get out and walk around and not get wet.
Jarvey first said he wanted to be the bubbles in the pond, then decided he'd like to be a duck so he could swim around in his bathtub.

Edith wants to be a frog in the pond because she likes frogs and how they can jump. She would be a little green baby frog.
Dontasia wants to be a big red frog. She said she wants to have red tadpoles and be able to hop.

Justin wants to be a frog so he can jump higher and swim faster than humans. He also said he would like to stick his tongue out and be in frog soup and make it taste like bugs.
DeShawn wants to be a tadpole so he can swim faster than Justin and jump faster and swim faster so I can be the bravest of all.
Germaine wants to be a bull frog so he can eat dragon flies and hop miles away.
